About Lyon Tax Advisory

I’ve worked in finance, accounting, tax, and hospitality for over 20 years. 

I am an Enrolled Agent (“EA”). An enrolled agent is a person who has earned the privilege of representing taxpayers before the IRS. Enrolled agent status is the highest credential the IRS awards.

Enrolled agents, like attorneys and certified public accountants (CPAs), have unlimited practice rights. This means they are unrestricted as to which taxpayers they can represent, what types of tax matters they can handle, and which IRS offices they can represent clients before. 

I’m also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (“CFP®”) professional and a Certified Exit Planning Advisor® (“CEPA®”), specializing in helping restaurant owners prepare for growth and eventual transition.

My career began at General Electric, where I served in executive finance, accounting, and tax roles. In my late 20s, I followed my passion for hospitality by opening and operating an award-winning independent restaurant, and then owned and operated franchise restaurants in California. These experiences give me a unique perspective on the challenges restaurant owners face, and the critical role that accurate accounting, tax planning, and financial clarity play in their success.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in Finance & Accounting from Boston University. Today, I’m the founder of Lyon Tax Advisory, a firm dedicated to providing accounting, tax, and financial services tailored specifically to restaurant owners and hospitality businesses. Additionally, I'm the owner of a fee-only retirement planning and investment management firm dedicated to helping restaurant owners retire well. 

I live in California with my wife, Sherin, and our son, William. Outside of work, I enjoy serving in our church community, exploring the Sierra Nevada mountains, and, of course, discovering great food.
